This cuvée is issued from La Mothe; a small, young, North facing parcel made up of clayey-limestone. A blend of two vintages; 70% 2016 & 30% 2017. In the 2017 vintage, spring frost resulted in particularly low yields, hence the decision to combine with the previous vintage. Bagatelle is aged for 11 months in stainless steel. Here we find the same charisma as Pierre other wines, the soul of Merlot with an edge. More blackcurrant, black cherry with undertones of less ripe raspberry. There is persistent herbaceous undertones some tomato leaf and red pepper. We start to see suggestions of age, developed verticality of fruit underripe to jam, fresh earth and black olive.
