Collection: Pierre-Olivier Bonhomme

Pierre-Olivier Bonhomme his wine making story begins in the 1990’s, when he had the (now defunct) Puzelat-Bonhomme négociant project with Thierry Puzelat (Clos du Tue-Boeuf) after the Puzelat brothers had a few years of very tiny crops. Thierry was a very busy and ambitious man and his négoce project grew bigger than he had anticipated. At that time Thierry found Pierre-Olivier, a teenager who just dropped out of high school and had helped out a few times at the vineyards of Clos de Tue-Boeuf. Pierre-Olivier became his partner in his early 20’s and at that time the négoce project was renamed to the Puzelat-Bonhomme négociant project.

After Jean-Marie’s retirement from Clos de Tue-Boeuf the project was given completely to Pierre-Olivier in 2013, but he had vinified the entirety of the production since 2011.

Rather than start from scratch with new labels and cuvées, Pierre-O has continued making the wines that put Puzelat-Bonhomme on the map: Touraine Sauvignon,  "La Tesnière" Blanc and Rouge, "In KO We Trust" and of course the infamous and ever-popular "Telquel".

Pierre-Olivier learned everything from Thierry and this is found back in de wines that he makes, with the exception of some recently released macerated whites. Almost all of the white wines are direct-pressed, then fermented and aged in old barrels. The reds see a whole-cluster, semi-carbonic fermentation and then elevage in old barrel. Tiny amounts of S02 are only added at bottling and if deemed necessary, more often on the whites than the the reds.
